this is Ariel. she and i have been close friends for most of our lives. and since she and her family moved, we've been penpals up to this day. she shares in my passion for mission work, and we've written in our letters to one another that one day we'd love to travel on the same mission trip. it is truly a God-thing to be here in Africa with her!!!
i want nothing more than to be here, building His kingdom in Africa.

Museum visit
museums really aren't my thing, but i have to admit, this one had some pretty intesresting artifacts.....
meet Lucy, the world's oldest human remains......
they love Lucy.....
honestly, Asfaw and i were a little freaked out about Lucy....
i apologize for the poor quality of these pictures, the lighting in the museum was so dim. but i couldnt help but take a bunch of photos, most museums discourage cameras- this one encouraged picture taking!!?
what a view!
the mountain side is by far the most beautiful view i have ever seen. the air smells of eucalypts and smoke. i am in awe of God's beautiful creation!
ababas (flowers)
this evening we all took a walk by our guest home. as most of you know, flowers are my favorites. i have a tattoo of two Cosmos on my left arm. some of the boys who are staying here with us really like my tattoo, and asked, "so, Adeline, you love flowers, yes?" they helped me find so many flowers along the streets and even took pictures. these boys have become my brothers!
mountain children
today we drove up Entonto Mountain and played with a large group of sweet kids. when we first pulled aside an open field, there were only a few little boys....then out of nowhere more and more children showed up. we played "football" and more clapping games; im getting really good at them i think! we played a version of duck duck goose...they all wanted to hold my hand. one of the guys with us, Sami, suggested they each hold onto one of my fingers....my hands felt like they were being ripped apart. they faught over just being near me. these kids were so loving and craved attention. they kissed my cheeks over and over before i got in my bus to leave. oh my goodness i will miss this place!

break my heart for what breaks yours
today some of the team got the chance to visit with some street children outside the H4H gates. our very presence seemed to excite them beyond words. my heart really broke today in this hour. these kids have nothing. nothing. most of them didnt have on a pair of shoes. one little girl had a gash in her chest covered in dried blood. a boy who held my hand was soaking wet, he couldnt have been older than two years. their skin was dirty and dried out. i stood there, smiling, chatting (in Amharic the best i could), playing clapping games with some while the others sang little songs. then when it was time to go back, they swarmed around me, grabbing my arms, reaching out to give me one last hug goodbye. the moment we were inside and the gates closed behind us, Ariel and i just sobbed and sobbed. it's like i think that every place we visit on this trip is heart breaking, and saying goodbye to a group of children cannot be beat - but then you hold another hand, you see another child's smile. my heart gets attatched to another fifty little pairs of chocolate brown eyes, and i feel myself long to stay!!!
